Located deep within Kerry Dark Sky Reserve, Waterville is uniquely situated on a narrow strip of land between Lough Currane on one side and the Atlantic on the other. The village, which is located on the Wild Atlantic Way, is famous throughout the world for its championship links golf course, its superb sea trout and salmon angling and its long sandy beaches. The area is blessed with some of the most spectacular scenery in Ireland & offers walkers and cyclists endless possibilities for sightseeing & touring.
The area boasts an abundance of ancient historical sites, among these are the 6th century Skelligs UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Stone Fort at Loher and 6th century ruins on Church Island. The area is particularly popular with artists, photographers & nature lovers. There are endless possibilities to experience the indigenous flora & fauna first hand. The village has attracted numerous celebrities over the years, from Charlie Chaplin to world famous golfers, such as Tiger Woods, Graeme McDowell and Mark O'Meara and many other celebrities.

A visit to Ireland would not be complete without a visit to the Skelligs UNESCO World Heritage site. Skellig Michael, the larger of the two islands is the site of the world's finest example of an early Christian monastic settlement. The islands lie 12km off the coast. The Little Skellig is one of the most important sites for nesting birds in Europe.
Fun Fact: Did you know? "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was filmed on the Skellig Islands? You can take a boat tour out to the islands and see where it all happened. Places are limited and boats only operate for 6 months, so book early!
Waterville's Lough Currane is renowned worldwide for the quality of its salmon and sea trout fishing. Big spring salmon and vast numbers of sea trout have a run of only 500 yards in length on the short river to reach the lake.
The sea surrounding the Iveragh peninsula is rich fishing ground. Cahersiveen has a reputation for some of the best deep sea angling in Europe. Expect to find cod, conger, skate, rays, sea bream and sharks.
Many of the region's beaches offer excellent shore fishing opportunities.
Kerry International Dark Sky Reserve has been deisgnated Ireland's first dark sky reserve. It is the only GOLD TIER Reserve in the whole Northern Hemisphere and only 1 of 3 on the planet.
The night skies are simply stunning with many more astronomical sights seen through the naked eye, including the Milky Way, Andromeda Galaxy, Star Clusters and Nebula's without the need for any equipment.
